Woman disarms rapist in quick-thinking condom ruse

A shop owner in northern Vinh Phuc Province disarmed a man trying to rape her by pretending she needed to find some condoms.
Binh Xuyen District police on Monday said they had arrested Phan Van Cuong, 31, on rape charges.
At around 10:30 p.m. on May 5, Cuong, who had been drinking beer, was riding his motorbike home.
Around an hour later, he passed a clothing shop in Gia Khanh Town and saw the female shop owner trying on clothes.
He parked his motorbike in front of the shop and entered with a large knife. He grabbed the victim from behind while putting a knife to her throat so he could force her to have sex with him.
Fearing for her life, the woman lured the man to the back of the shop, saying that they could go ahead if she could get some condoms.
During the condom search, Cuong let his guard down and put his knife on the table to prepare for sex. The quick-thinking woman was then able to grab the knife and startle the semi-undressed man.
Backing off, Cuong was caught by locals as he was trying to put his pants back on.
