Vietnam records four more Covid deaths
The deceased are all elderly patients with underlying conditions, the Ministry of Health announced.
One of them is a 68-year-old man in HCMC who had diabetes, tuberculosis and ischemic heart disease. He was admitted to the Pham Ngoc Thach Hospital on June 26 before testing positive for the coronavirus on June 29. He died the same day.
His causes of death were Covid-19, malnutrition and underlying conditions.
Another patient, a 73-year-old woman in Long An that borders HCMC, had heart failure, hypertension and Lupus. She was admitted to a local traditional medicine hospital for knee pain on June 13, before being transferred to the Long An General Hospital on June 21.
She tested positive for the coronavirus on June 29. She died on June 30 due to pneumonia caused by Covid-19, heart failure, hypertension and other conditions.
Two other deaths were of patients from the southern province of Dong Thap: an 81-year-old woman with hypertension, diabetes and cushing's syndrome, and an 88-year-old woman who had ischemic heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), tuberculosis and complications from a stroke.
The 81-year-old was admitted to Sa Dec General Hospital on June 8 for primary adrenal insufficiency, gastroesophageal reflux disease and other conditions, before testing positive for the coronavirus on June 26. She died on July 2.
Her causes of death were pneumonia caused by Covid-19 and septic shock, among other conditions.
The other woman was admitted to the Long An General Hospital on June 16 with chest pain, COPD, hypertension and other conditions.
She died on July 4. Her causes of death were pneumonia due to Covid-19, intestinal perforation and other conditions.
The fourth coronavirus wave since April 27 has seen 55 deaths. The country earlier recorded 35 deaths during the second wave July and August last year.
Nghe An Province in central Vietnam recorded a Covid-19 death on Monday morning but it has not been confirmed by the Health Ministry.
